Jamie, je t'aime

Dear Jamie,
Let’s meet up by the red telephone booth at the corner of Madison and Grand
From there we can go to our favorite Deli,
where we can eat French fries dipped in lots of ketchup and mayonnaise

“What will you do when you graduate?” ask I.

“Move into Osaka, and watch the Sakura trees blossom.”
“Or enroll to an Ivy League university, so that after I graduate, I can apply to a prestigious company and get handsome salary.”
“Or perhaps I’ll go to Tibet, and becoming a monk.”
“But I’m always curious to try joining the United Nations Volunteers and helping Darfur refugees.”

“But definitely not staying here, because my dreams are too big for this town.”

Oh wait, I hold my breath, why didn’t you tell me that before?

Because Jamie,
I always picture you as someone who I have always wanted to share my life with,
Who will hold my hands and hug me close whenever I needed familiar warmth,
Who will be the first person I see each morning when I wake up.

Can’t you see Jamie,
That’s always the way I feel about you and me.

One More Time, One More Chance

I'm always searching for your figure to appear somewhere
On the opposite platform, in the windows off the street,
Even though I know you couldn't be at such a place
If my wish were to come true, I would go to your side right now
There would be nothing I couldn't do
I would put everything on the line and hold you tight

If I just wanted to avoid loneliness, anybody would have been enough
Because the night looks like the stars will fall, I cannot lie to myself
One more time, oh seasons, fade not
One more time, when we were messing around

I'm always searching for your figure to appear somewhere
At a street crossing, or in the midst of dreams
Even though I know you couldn't be at such a place
If a miracle were to happen here, I would show you right away
The new morning who I'll be from now on
And the words I never said: "I love you"

The memories of summer are revolving
The throbbing which suddenly disappeared

I'm always searching for your figure to appear somewhere
In the town at dawn, at Sakuragi-cho
Even though I know you wouldn't come to such place

If my wish were to come true, I would go to your side right now
There would be nothing I couldn't do
I would put everything on the line and hold you tight

I'm always searching for fragments of you to appear somewhere
In a stone during my travels, in the corner of a newspaper
Even though I know you couldn't be at such a place
If a miracle were to happen here, I would show you right away
The new morning who I'll be from now on
And the words I never said "I love you"

I always end up looking for your smile to appear somewhere
At the railroad crossing waiting for the express to pass
Even though I know you couldn't be at such a place
If our lives could be repeated, I would be at your side everytime
I would want nothing else
Nothing matters except for you

Along Went December .07

And so I heard you are working as creative writer, eh? That’s interesting. So tell me, dear lad. How come you failed to write anything? Oh oh ... una momento, please let me restate it to you. You did not update your blog with any new postings on last December, right?

Oh, great. All I need is a little bit of support but hey. Is it too much that I have asked that out of you?

Perhaps it’s because you simply just don’t know, but to tell you the truth, this is the way of me telling you that I care about you. ... Eh, and your so-called creative works of writing.

Well, thanks. I’m so grateful to have you keeping records for me. Now would you please stop bullying me with questions? It’s just feels like accusations.

What?! Accusation? Whoa, wait a minute, young man! You’re not ...

Now hush! I need to concentrate. Hush... shhh...

* * *

Hohum. Baiklah. Dan bahwa aku tidak pernah posting satu pun entry baru di Life in The Time of Butterflies selama bulan terakhir tahun kemarin itu. Silahkan menyangka (yep! Sengaja menghindari kata menuduh) diriku adalah seorang pemalas. Atau sudah kehilangan daya kreatif. Tidak apa-apa. I don’t see anything serious about it.
Hmm, hopefully I don’t sounds like a defensive person here.

Only deadlines. And they were enough!

Kebayang bagaimana hectic-nya suasana kantorku.

Highly critical condition, first degree. In which this condition, in a more or lesser sense, was in-exclusively mine; and I believe also is very much familiar to many writers. So there’s no point for me bragging about it.

But hey, I am here right now.

Because now I now I do really need this. To channel my ideas. Or as a mean to reflect my thoughts and feelings.

And perhaps sometimes, as a medium to brag to you dear fellow readers, on how one of my earlier work helped Dian Sastrowardoyo accomplished her very first job as a host for an awarding night.
